The advanced Excel course takes your skills to the next level. The 12 hours of training across six weeks builds on previous knowledge to continually reinforce your new competencies.

Week 1: Managing the Workbook, Fundamentals Refresher

  • Protecting your workbook

  • Named ranges and structured references

  • Formula calculation options

Week 2: Customization, Conditional Formatting, and Simple Macros

  • Custom number formats

  • Using formulas in conditional formatting

  • Build and use simple macros

Week 3: Advanced Formulas and Data Lookups

  • Integrate AND, OR, and NOT functions into your formulas

  • Using VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, and INDEX(MATCH)

  • Formulas using time and date

Week 4: Troubleshooting, Named Ranges, and Special Operations

  • Precedence and Dependence

  • Goal Seek and Scenario Manager

  • Dynamic named ranges

Week 5: Introduction to PivotTables

  • Creating PivotTables

  • Using Slicers

  • Using the GETPIVOTDATA function

Week 6: Advanced Charts, PivotTables, and PivotCharts

  • Building dual-axis charts

  • Building chart templates

  • Create PivotCharts

Notes:

This class requires the Microsoft Office Specialist Excel 2016 certificate. Special arrangements can be made if this won’t be attained before the class starts, but students are expected to comfortably utilize the fundamental skill set without instruction. The course will be two hours each week for six weeks. Class dates will be made available prior to registration.

While this course is not specifically built to earn the Microsoft Office Specialist Excel 2016 Expert certificate, it covers about 75% of the Excel Expert curriculum.
