+ Can I take the advanced training without taking the fundamentals training first?

Most people will need to start at the fundamentals level even if they have been using Excel for some time. The fundamentals course covers a wide range of material, and it is likely that you have gaps in your knowledge if you have not received formal training.

Here are the skills you need before skipping the fundamentals course:

Setting up Workbooks and Worksheets

  • Setting and customizing the print area
  • Hiding and grouping rows or columns
  • Using headers and footers
  • Altering workbook/worksheet views

Managing Data Ranges and Cells

  • Cutting/Copying data and using special paste functions
  • Presenting data with custom currencies, dates, or time formatting
  • Creating and filtering/sorting tables

Formulas and Functions

  • Using formulas such as SUM, COUNT, AVERAGE, MAX, etc.
  • You should also be able to modify these with "IF"
  • Using formulas to manipulate text such as LEFT, UPPER, etc.

Charts and Objects

  • Creating charts and selecting data
  • Using Quick Analysis features
  • Modifying chart layouts and elements
  • Inserting/formatting objects (text boxes, shapes, etc.)

This curriculum is based off the Microsoft Office Specialist Excel exam, which you can read about here.

+ If I attend a training course, will I be able to access the digital training resources?

Those who have previously attended a training course will receive a discount code for 50% off digital training materials. Many of the practice tests and study guides are shared between the courses, but the Digital Training package offers many more tutorial videos.
